Happy Halloween to all my board game gals
With the spooky season upon us, my family and gaming group like to pull out some Halloween or spooky games this time of year. I don't have a lot in my collection, but I do have House on the Hill. This is a fun, explore-and-develop the board type game where you don't know where things are until you explore an area. My biggest complaint about the game is that if you play a scenario where you die, you have nothing to do but eat Halloween candy and watch the other players continue with the game. We have noted these in our book, so we don't pick them to play, but luckily for us, there are lots to pick from.
This year, we dusted off Last Night on Earth, it's a zombie game where you are either heroes trying to survive or zombies trying to eat everyone else. The nice thing is, if you die as a hero, you just come back as a zombie, and if you die as a zombie...you just come back.
And for sure, Night Cage will be played sometime this month. We will set the mood with candles and dim the lights. Then we will crawl through the cage looking for an exit without getting eaten by a monster. It's again an exploration game where you need to explore to make the board, but the theme is dark, and parts of the board disappear when not lit by someone's candle.
If we have time, we might pull out Toils & Troublez, a push your luck card game where you try to collect sets to score points.
What's your favorite spooky game?
